Nepal Bar Association President Opposes Removal of Lottery System for Case Assignment

Nepal Bar Association President Prof. Dr. Vijayprasad Mishra has opposed the removal of the lottery system for case assignment in the Supreme Court, warning it could lead to political influence in the judiciary. He stated that if the Chief Justice assigns cases directly instead of through the lottery system, the Bar Association will launch a strong protest. Mishra also criticized the appointment process of the Chief Justice, suggesting it is influenced by the Prime Minister, and urged legal practitioners to maintain their discretion amidst current challenges to the judiciary.
