Cancer Medicine Shortage Hits Country’s Largest Cancer Hospital

The BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Chitwan is experiencing a severe shortage of essential chemotherapy drugs like Carboplatin and Cisplatin due to global supply disruptions. This shortage is impacting cancer treatment plans and potentially reducing chemotherapy effectiveness. The hospital has informed the Ministry of Health and Population and is seeking international assistance, including from the World Health Organization.
