The Nepal Rastra Bank board has approved the loan portfolio review reports of 10 large commercial banks, conducted as part of an IMF agreement. The review, performed by Howladar Yunus & Co., identified concerns including loan evergreening, improper loan classification, and questionable valuation practices, leading to higher-than-reported non-performing loan (NPL) ratios. Banks will receive directives for corrective actions based on the findings.
