Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law authorizing the use of the Russian army to protect Russian citizens convicted or arrested by foreign courts or international tribunals. The law allows the armed forces to intervene when foreign courts act without Russia's participation or a UN Security Council resolution. It is set to take effect ten days after publication.
