Nepal's edible oil imports have surged by over 145.33 billion rupees in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, with a significant portion attributed to a re-export model where crude oil is imported, processed, and then re-exported to India. Soybean oil constitutes the largest share of imports, primarily sourced from Argentina and Brazil. The country has also earned foreign exchange by exporting refined oils, mainly to India, under the South Asian Free Trade Area agreement.
