The Public Health Agency of Canada has confirmed a case of hantavirus in a cruise passenger isolating in British Columbia. Samples tested at the National Microbiology Laboratory confirmed the positive case, while a travelling partner tested negative. The outbreak occurred aboard the polar expedition cruise ship MV Hondius, resulting in three deaths. The overall risk to the general population in Canada remains low.
