BP highway

Reconstruction has officially commenced on a severely damaged 3.2-kilometer section of Nepal's BP Highway, linking Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli districts, with financial and technical assistance from Japan. Japanese Ambassador Maeda Toru and Nepal's Infrastructure Ministry Secretary Gopal Prasad Sigdel jointly laid the foundation stone for the Piple–Barkhekhola stretch, which was devastated by floods and landslides in October 2024.

The challenging 400 Besi section of the BP Highway is slated to open for vehicular traffic within the next 10 days following on-site inspections and ongoing reconstruction efforts. Chairman Ashish Gajurel confirmed that the foundation is prepared, with remaining work focused on wall construction in specific areas to ensure the track's readiness for use, even during emergencies.
