Nepal's construction sector is experiencing a severe crisis due to rising material costs, administrative issues, and policy uncertainty, prompting the government to pledge action. Meanwhile, the Baddi-Khambagade road project in Western Surkhet faces further delays, pushing its completion to 2025 and causing hardship for locals.

Nepal's government, through Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal, has pledged to address significant problems in the construction sector, including financial pressure, rising material costs, and delayed payments. Minister Lamsal stated that the government is actively studying solutions for price adjustments and deadline extensions, potentially through legal and policy reforms, to support construction entrepreneurs. The Infrastructure Development Committee has also directed the government to swiftly remove obstacles and address extreme price hikes impacting development projects.

MP Bodhnarayan Shrestha has called on construction entrepreneurs to cease irregularities and "under-the-table deals" within the sector, urging honesty and responsibility. He emphasized the need for accountability, stating that incomplete projects due to negligence cause public hardship and that the state should not overpay contractors for price hikes.
