Police in Morang district have arrested Dhakla Bahadur Theeng, a 61-year-old man, for his alleged involvement in a gang that defrauds elderly individuals using fake gold as bait. The gang specifically targets senior citizens in crowded areas and public transport, luring them with yellow metal that appears to be gold before snatching their real jewelry. Theeng is believed to be part of an organized crime group operating across eastern Nepal.

Hadiya Real Tea Estate in Jhapa has pioneered the simultaneous commercial cultivation of tea and areca nut on 60 bighas of land. Estate operator Bhakti Adhikari stated that the mixed cultivation is feasible due to the similar climate and soil requirements of both crops, with the areca nut trees providing beneficial shade for the tea bushes. This initiative marks the first institutionalized intercropping of these two cash crops by a commercial company in Jhapa.

Nepal's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology forecasts below-average rainfall for the upcoming monsoon, while also warning of potential flood and landslide risks due to prolonged dry spells followed by sudden heavy downpours. The department also anticipates above-average temperatures across the country, with specific regions like Dipayal and Nepalgunj already experiencing extreme heat.
