A luggage tag system will be implemented on long-distance public transport vehicles departing from Kathmandu Valley starting May 29 to enhance passenger safety and manage belongings. The initiative, formalized through an agreement between the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, aims to prevent luggage loss, theft, and swapping.

Saroj Sitaula, Chairman of the Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs National Federation, has emphasized the critical need for technology and professional discipline to modernize Nepal's public transport sector. He stressed the importance of implementing GPS systems, online ticketing, and cashless payments, and urged for mandatory GPS system checks during vehicle inspection and route permit renewals.
