A significant rift has emerged within the CPN-UML, with a majority of leaders in the ongoing Central Secretariat meeting demanding the resignation of party Chairman KP Sharma Oli. The leaders cited disappointing electoral performances and organizational stagnation as reasons for the call for leadership change and party restructuring. Oli, however, has firmly rejected these demands, asserting his legitimate election and unwillingness to step down.

CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has presented a proposed list of department heads and organization in-charges, along with a 19-member central office bearer hierarchy. The proposals were discussed in a secretariat meeting and are set to be decided upon in an upcoming session.

A significant majority within the UML Secretariat, comprising 80 percent of its members, has called for Chairman K.P. Oli to step down from his position. This internal pressure stems from concerns that the party is becoming difficult to manage at the grassroots level, although Oli has rejected these arguments and stated he will not resign after being elected. The situation highlights a deep division within the party leadership.

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has found himself in the minority within the party's secretariat, with General Secretary Shankar Pokharel and Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai opposing him in a recent meeting. Meanwhile, young leaders from the Madhes region are reportedly planning to form a new political party due to dissatisfaction with existing parties' leadership.
