The Office of the Auditor General has directed the recovery of Rs 26.03 billion in premium arrears from industries utilizing dedicated feeders and trunk lines. This directive, part of the 63rd annual report, reiterates a demand made since the 60th report, highlighting significant negligence and irregularities in tariff collection and other operations by the Electricity Authority.

  • The total arrears from customers to the Electricity Authority have increased by 7.77 percent to Rs 52.01 billion, with 50.05 percent of this amount owed by 59 industries.
  • Jagdamba Steel Pvt. Ltd. owes the highest arrears at Rs 1.54 billion, followed by Reliance Spinning Mills and Shivam Cement.
