Auditor General's Office Demands Recovery of Rs 26 Billion in Electricity Arrears from Industries

The Office of the Auditor General has directed the Electricity Authority to recover 26 billion rupees in premium arrears from industrialists for electricity used through dedicated feeders and trunk lines. The 63rd annual report highlights significant irregularities, including over 52 billion rupees in unrecovered arrears from industrialists and government bodies, and 56 billion rupees invested in subsidiary companies without approval. The report also points to losses incurred due to the purchase of substandard transformers and substantial arrears for street lights, with Kathmandu Metropolitan City owing 1.99 billion rupees.
