Madhesh Province Reports Highest HIV/AIDS Cases in Parsa District

Parsa district in Madhesh Province has the highest number of HIV/AIDS patients, with 1,504 individuals infected. Across Madhesh Province, 4,680 HIV-infected patients are currently receiving Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) treatment in the fiscal year 2081/82. Controlling the spread of HIV/AIDS has become challenging due to factors like open borders, foreign employment, drug use, and unsafe sexual contact, according to Dr. Pramod Kumar Yadav, Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population, Madhesh Province.

  • In the fiscal year 2081/82, 16 pregnant women in Madhesh Province have been confirmed with HIV infection, posing a risk of mother-to-child transmission if testing and treatment are delayed.

  • The number of people tested for HIV in Madhesh Province has significantly increased from 14,000 in fiscal year 2076/77 to 76,792 in fiscal year 2081/82.
