Madhesh Province

The Madhes Province cabinet has been expanded with five new ministers sworn into office, including portfolios for Finance, Sports, Labour, Education, and Health. The expansion followed an agreement between the ruling coalition parties: CPN (UML), Nepali Congress, and the Communist Party of Nepal. Province Chief Surendra Labh Karna administered the oaths to the new ministers.

Nepal Police data for Baisakh (April-May 2026) indicates over-speeding was the primary cause of 1,253 out of 2,294 road accidents nationwide, resulting in 239 fatalities. The initiative also supported over 400 local entrepreneurs, many of whom are women, with new livelihood opportunities and introduced clean cooking alternatives.
