Kathmandu Traffic Police Penalize Over 2,000 Drivers in 24 Hours, Collect Rs 4.17 Lakh

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has penalized 2,029 motorists for traffic violations within a 24-hour period, generating Rs 417,000 in revenue. Actions were taken for offenses including drunk driving, illegal ride-sharing, disregarding traffic signals, and speeding.

  • Specific violations included 59 cases of drunk driving, 119 for illegal ride-sharing, 132 for ignoring traffic signals, and 208 for speeding.
  • Other penalized offenses comprised lane discipline violations (57), honking in restricted areas (94), illegal parking (95), and driving on one-way streets (126).
  • A total of 1,139 drivers were penalized for various other traffic rule infringements.
  • The enforcement drive aims to improve road safety and ensure stricter compliance with traffic regulations in the valley.
