Kathmandu Traffic Police Book Over 1,900 Drivers, Arrest Five for Drug-Impaired Driving

Kathmandu traffic police have taken action against 1,922 drivers in the valley within 24 hours, collecting Rs 1.97 million in revenue. In a separate operation, five drivers were arrested in the Thali area for operating vehicles under the influence of drugs, according to police.

  • Violations included driving under the influence of alcohol (118 drivers), ride-sharing (198), red light violations (126), speeding (131), and others.

  • The arrested drivers included two bus drivers, one mini-truck driver, one light vehicle driver, and one tempo driver.
  • The intensified monitoring is part of ongoing efforts to reduce road accidents and enhance public transport safety in the Valley.
