The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Nepal has reduced the operating hours of its Emergency Control Room (ECR) from 24/7 to 12 hours daily, citing a normalization of conditions for Nepalis in West Asia. Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Chhetri stated the ECR will now operate from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, as recent contacts and registrations via the room have significantly decreased. The government continues to monitor developments in West Asia, supporting diplomatic efforts for peace and the resolution of blockages in the Strait of Hormuz.

  • The ECR, established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received over 160 calls, 50 emails, and 110 online messages, plus 10 physical visits until Friday, with only two contacts in the last 48 hours.
  • The number of individuals registering through the online form launched by the Department of Consular Services (DoCS) has reached 87,863, with only 12 registrations in the past 14 days.
  • Nepal supports ongoing bilateral and multilateral efforts to clear blockages in the Strait of Hormuz and hopes for the normalization of supply chains and market prices.
  • Separately, the government has rescued 687 Nepalis from illegal online scamming operations in East Asia, including 562 from Cambodia and 111 from Myanmar.
