Kathmandu to Host Himalayan Literature Festival and Writers Workshop 2026

The Himalayan Literature Festival and Writers Workshop (HLF-WWK) 2026 is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from May 29 to June 5, gathering over 75 writers, poets, scholars, and artists from around the globe. Hosted at The Malla Hotel, the event is dedicated to Nepali short story writer Guru Prasad Mainali and focuses on the theme “Ecstasy, Healing, and Creative Writing in the New World Order.” A key feature will be the launch of Nepal's first Poetry Film Festival.

  • The festival will feature internationally acclaimed literary figures such as Pulitzer Prize-winning poets Tracy K. Smith and Paul Muldoon, novelist Jean Hanff Korelitz, and poet Tina Chang.
