Government arrears reach Rs 88.09 billion, audit report reveals

Nepal’s government arrears have reached Rs 88.09 billion, according to the 63rd Annual Audit Report from the Office of the Auditor General. The report audited 5,526 public entities in fiscal year 2081/82, identifying irregularities totaling Rs 88.09 billion across federal, provincial, and local government levels, as well as committees and institutions. While Rs 66.11 billion in previous arrears were adjusted, cumulative updated arrears stand at Rs 7.55 trillion. The office also reported that audit work worth approximately Rs 147.89 billion could not be completed due to incomplete document submission.
