Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) anticipates a reduction in river-related disaster incidents this year following the removal of landless settlements along riverbanks. KMC City Police Senior Superintendent Bishnu Prasad Joshi stated that while caution is still needed, the removal of settlements is expected to decrease flood-related incidents. KMC has also formulated a strategic plan for monsoon preparedness, focusing on urban disaster risk reduction and capacity development.
