The Office of the Auditor General has identified a revenue gap of over Rs 160 million in the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund (RTDF), stating that the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has failed to collect dues and penalties from service providers. The report indicates that 40 telecommunications companies have not deposited their mandatory contributions, leading to significant arrears. The Auditor General's office has also urged the NTA to develop a clear policy for the utilization and management of the substantial unspent balance within the fund.
