Human Rights Society Draws Attention of Government, Parliament, Judiciary on Republic Day

On the 19th Republic Day, the Human Rights and Peace Society demonstrated to draw the government, parliament, and judiciary's attention to institutional development and strengthening of the democratic republic. Chairperson Renuka Poudel urged the government to learn from past failures, highlighted concerns about the delayed formation of an investigation committee for the Bhadra 24 incident, and questioned the effectiveness of the National Human Rights Commission. The society also criticized the government's approach to squatter settlement management.
