National grid targeting 1,040 MW addition next fiscal year as mega-project pipeline unveiled

Nepal's national grid capacity is projected to reach 5,535 megawatts next fiscal year with the addition of 1,040 megawatts from reservoir/storage and solar projects. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle presented a budget focusing on energy, including accelerating ongoing hydropower projects like Tanahu and initiating new ones such as Upper Arun. The budget also allocates funds for feasibility studies of major projects like Arun-4 and the management of the Budhigandaki Hydropower Project.
