Government Prioritizes Large Hydropower Projects in Gandaki Province

The government has prioritized the construction of large hydropower projects, centering on Gandaki Province, with the goal of making the region an energy hub for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. Reservoir-based projects are given top priority for energy security. The 1200 MW Budhi Gandaki reservoir project will be moved forward with an empowered authority model, and construction of projects like Tanahu reservoir, Upper Modi, and Lower Modi will be accelerated. The tender process for dozens of projects, including the 828 MW Uttar Ganga, will also move forward.
