Nepal sees rise in doctors and nurses per population: Economic Survey

The Economic Survey 2025/26 indicates a significant increase in skilled healthcare workers in Nepal compared to the previous fiscal year. As of mid-March 2026, there are 1.86 doctors and 4.42 nurses per 1,000 population, up from 1.1 doctors and 2.86 nurses per 1,000 population in the prior year. This growth in health sector manpower has coincided with improved access to both basic and specialized healthcare services.
