New SC CJ Sharma assumes office

Manoj Kumar Sharma has been appointed as the 33rd Chief Justice of Nepal by President Ram Chandra Paudel, following endorsement by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee. Sharma, who was fourth in seniority among Supreme Court justices, took the oath of office on Tuesday, May 19. His appointment was recommended by the Constitutional Council on Baisakh 24. Dissenting opinions were recorded regarding the adherence to seniority order.
