KP Sharma Oli: Nepal’s former prime minister arrested over alleged role in deadly protest crackdown
Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former home affairs minister Ramesh Lekhak have been arrested over their alleged role in the deaths during last year's 'gen Z protest'. The arrests were announced by the newly appointed home affairs minister, Sudan Gurung, following a government-backed report recommending their prosecution. Police spokesperson Om Adhikari confirmed the arrests were based on the investigation commission's recommendations. The new Prime Minister, Balendra Shah, whose election was seen as a triumph for the protests, has pledged to bring justice and unity to Nepal.
