The Koshi Tappu Reserve has attracted 11,603 visitors in the current fiscal year 2081-82 BS (2026-27), including 11,214 domestic visitors and 87 from SAARC countries. Additionally, 302 international visitors were recorded. The reserve, spanning 348 sq.km and located on an island formed by the Saptakoshi River, is renowned for its wild buffalo population and serves as a habitat for various species, including crocodiles and dolphins. It was listed as a Ramsar site in 1987 and is considered a biological corridor connected to eastern India.
