The Property Inquiry Commission in Kathmandu has begun requesting data from government bodies for a large-scale property verification exercise covering over 25,000 public officials and political office-bearers. This initiative follows a directive from the Council of Ministers, led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, instructing the Commission to submit property declaration forms within 30 days. The Commission, headed by former Supreme Court Justice Rajendra Kumar Bhandari, is mandated to investigate assets held within Nepal and abroad by individuals who served in public office between fiscal year 2006/07 and mid-April 2026, including their families.
