The Property Inquiry Commission (PIC) in Kathmandu has begun requesting data from government and institutional bodies for a large-scale property verification exercise targeting over 25,000 public officials and political office-bearers. This initiative, directed by the Council of Ministers, aims to collect and investigate assets held by individuals in public office between fiscal year 2006/07 and mid-April 2026, including their families. The PIC is also soliciting public complaints regarding unnaturally acquired assets to prioritize investigations.

  • The PIC, led by former Supreme Court Justice Rajendra Kumar Bhandari, has been mandated to submit property declaration forms within 30 days.
  • An estimated 8,000 to 10,000 complaints related to unnaturally acquired assets are expected.
  • The investigation covers assets held both within Nepal and abroad.
  • Public notices have been issued calling for complaints against individuals who held public office during the specified period.
