Middle East conflict disrupts fertiliser supply

The ongoing conflict in West Asia has disrupted the delivery of 185,000 tonnes of chemical fertiliser contracted for Nepal, raising concerns for the upcoming monsoon paddy season. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment is implementing alternative measures, including government-to-government imports from India and encouraging the use of compost fertiliser. Current stock is expected to last until mid-July, with efforts underway to secure additional supplies to prevent shortages.
