Communications Minister presents proposal on Film Bill in HoR

Minister for Information and Communications Dr Bikram Timilsina proposed the Film Bill-2082 for consideration in the House of Representatives, initiating discussions on its principles. The bill aims to update the existing Film Act from 2026 BS to align with federalism, inclusivity, and new technology, fostering the film sector as a social, cultural, and creative arts industry. It seeks to promote Nepal as a tourism destination through cinema, regulate film screenings, empower the Film Development Board, and enhance the formalization of the Nepali film industry, including workers' rights and mother tongue film promotion.
