Minister for Information and Communication Dr. Bikram Timilsina has instructed government-run media agencies to expedite annual audits and the recovery of outstanding arrears. The directive aims to improve institutional transparency and financial accountability, with specific attention to overdue payments and pending audits for Gorkhapatra Corporation and Public Service Broadcasting Nepal.

Minister for Information and Communications Bikram Timilsina expressed optimism about the government's performance, stating that recent initiatives have instilled hope among the public and that citizens will witness significant changes in public service delivery over the next five years. Meanwhile, Nepali Congress general secretary Gagan Thapa demanded the immediate formation of a judicial commission to investigate violence and destruction that occurred on September 9, 2025, accusing the government of attempting to cover up events.

Minister for Information and Communications, Dr. Bikram Timilsina, stated the government's commitment to reducing the digital divide by expanding telecommunication facilities, including 4G services, to remote areas. He announced plans to utilize Rs 16.78 billion from the Rural Telecommunications Fund for this initiative and highlighted the government's focus on making Nepal a 'tech hub' by promoting IT exports and developing digital infrastructure.

He emphasized strengthening the Press Council Nepal for media monitoring and developing digital work hubs and community IT centers. The government is also upgrading its websites for accessibility and disseminating information through digital platforms and social media.

Nepal is actively pursuing the establishment of data centres, with both government and private sectors showing positive engagement. The government is considering feasibility studies for foreign direct investment in data centre construction and plans to gauge multinational company interest, aiming to position Nepal as a regional data hub. Investors are encouraged by government initiatives and Nepal's potential advantages, such as its climate and increasing electricity production.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sobita Gautam, tabled two bills in the House of Representatives on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, aimed at replacing ordinances related to the March 5 election. The bills, 'House of Representatives Members Election (First Amendment) Bill, 2083' and 'Voter Name List (First Amendment) Bill, 2083', were approved for presentation by a majority vote.
