Public debt nears Rs 30 trillion, adding Rs 532 billion in 10 months

Nepal's public debt has reached Rs 29.75 trillion, an increase of Rs 532.91 billion in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year. This rise is attributed to new loans and exchange rate losses, despite principal repayments. Public debt now constitutes 45.08 percent of Nepal's GDP, a decrease attributed to a revised GDP estimate rather than reduced borrowing. The government has spent Rs 292.52 billion on debt servicing in the same period.
