Smart Telecom asset auction under scrutiny; Ncell’s role questioned

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police is investigating Ncell for alleged illegal activities in the property auction of Smart Telecom Pvt. Ltd. The CIB suspects that Smart Telecom's assets were transferred to Ncell without the knowledge of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, violating the Telecommunications Act, 1997. Nepal Investment Mega Bank auctioned Smart Telecom's assets to recover a loan, with Ncell acquiring them for Rs 4.60 billion. The CIB alleges collusion between Ncell and the bank, possibly involving dummy companies in the auction process.
