The Global Gathering of Pastoralist Women has commenced in Khumaltar, Lalitpur, with Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment Geeta Chaudhary stating it will strengthen commitments to recognize the rights and dignity of women herders. Organized by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) with UN and FAO assistance, the event aims to amplify pastoralist women's voices and address their concerns globally.

The National AI Hackathon 2026, organized by Kode Dristi Software Pvt. Ltd., is scheduled for June 6-7 in Lalitpur, Nepal, aiming to promote AI adoption and innovation. The event will include a 32-hour hackathon for developers and a post-event investor pitching session for promising AI-based projects.

In separate incidents, police rescued an unconscious youth with Rs 118,000 cash in Kakarbhitta, found an abandoned newborn in Itahari, and arrested a man with fake Nepali notes in Lalitpur. The unconscious youth, Hari Thapa, was found near the Kakarbhitta bus park after allegedly consuming excessive alcohol and has since been discharged from the hospital. The abandoned baby, estimated to be 7-10 days old, was discovered in a forest area in Itahari, with investigations hampered by malfunctioning CCTV cameras. Meanwhile, Suraj Rai was arrested in Lalitpur with 16 fake Rs 500 notes.

Nepal Police apprehended 2,319 fugitives involved in various criminal cases during a month-long nationwide operation, recovering over Rs 215 million in fines. Separately, the Kaski District Court ordered the withdrawal of organized crime and money laundering charges against Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane and two others, though a cooperative fraud case remains. In Lalitpur, two Indian nationals were arrested for attempting to traffic a minor to India.

Authorities across Nepal have arrested 17 individuals in various regions for possession of illegal drugs, including Tramadol, brown heroin, and marijuana. The arrests were made in locations such as Jhapa, Siraha, Kailali, Makwanpur, Lalitpur, Udayapur, Kapilvastu, and Parsa. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
