A climbing team, including Chinese member Shi Jungi, became the first this spring season to summit both Mt. Everest and Lhotse in a single ascent. The team reached Everest's summit on May 14 and Lhotse later the same day, employing a different strategy than conventional double ascents. This season also saw Kami Rita Sherpa set a record with his 32nd Everest ascent and Lhakpa Sherpa her 11th.
