Chinese team makes history: First to summit Everest & Lhotse in single expedition

A Chinese climber led by Xi Junzi has made history by becoming the first expedition team to successfully summit both Mount Everest and Lhotse in a single season. The team reached the summit of Mount Everest at 8:56 AM last Thursday (May 14), and later achieved another milestone by climbing Lhotse at 11:25 AM today. This represents a deviation from the more common practice of staying at Camp IV for the Lhotse attempt.
