Public Accounts Committee

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is prioritizing financial discipline and addressing the nation's significant arrears, which currently stand at Rs 755 billion. Separately, the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed charges against three government witnesses in a corruption case at the Special Court for changing their testimonies. The Council of Ministers also failed to appoint a new chairman for the Securities Board of Nepal.

Education Secretary Chudamani Poudel stated that the Ministry of Education is facing significant challenges in settling old audit discrepancies related to school building construction. These discrepancies, primarily from the former District Education Office, remain pending due to a lack of necessary documents and evidence, complicating the process as school management has been transferred to local levels while audit issues remain with the ministry.

Multiple parliamentary committees under the Federal Parliament convened for meetings to discuss various critical issues. The Public Accounts Committee focused on strategies for reducing arrears, while the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee reviewed progress and action plans for the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. Other committees engaged in discussions related to the upcoming fiscal year's budget, human rights, and infrastructure development.
