Tribhuvan University (TU) and the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) are discussing a short-term arrangement for the TU cricket ground, as the university's 25-year lease agreement has expired. Matches will only be permitted with prior university approval, and CAN must submit its schedule in advance.

Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, met with professors overseeing universities during a transition period, instructing them to maintain examinations and administrative activities. He cautioned against making decisions with long-term implications while the process for appointing new vice-chancellors is ongoing across various universities.

Education Minister Sasmita Pokharel stated that the government is progressing according to its electoral promises, including a scientific approach to resource distribution in community schools and open competition for university vice-chancellor appointments. Meanwhile, UK Minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan highlighted education, skills, and economic cooperation as key pillars for strengthening Nepal-UK ties, emphasizing transnational education and UK support for Nepal's economic growth.

China's Ambassador to Nepal, Zhang Maoming, attended a policy dialogue in Kathmandu focused on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into higher education. He stated that South Asia has significant potential to become a hub for AI-enabled higher education and expressed a desire to deepen cooperation with Nepal and other South Asian nations in this field. The dialogue, organized by Tribhuvan University with support from the Asian Development Bank and UNESCO, brought together experts from SAARC countries to discuss responsible AI use.

A total of 218 candidates have applied for vacant Vice Chancellor positions in eight different universities across Nepal. The Selection and Recommendation Committee has begun scrutinizing the applications, with the highest number of applicants, 50, vying for the position at Tribhuvan University. This process follows the annulment of previous appointments and the initiation of a fresh selection procedure by the government.
