Tribhuvan University grounds cricket matches with prior approval from CAN

Tribhuvan University (TU) and the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) are discussing a short-term arrangement for the TU cricket ground, as the university's 25-year lease agreement has expired. Matches will only be permitted with prior university approval, and CAN must submit its schedule in advance.

The TU cricket ground has been designated a national pride project, and a long-term agreement with CAN is not planned.
University Registrar Mahendra Prasad Chalise stated that education is prioritized over cricket within the university.
CAN's request for an extension of the expired lease agreement has been forwarded to the Ministry of Education.
The university had previously issued a notice for CAN to vacate the ground after the agreement's expiration.
Minister for Education and Sports Sasmita Pokharel had publicly stated that the agreement would be extended, influencing the university's stance.
