CIAA Files Corruption Case Against Land Office Official for Rs 200,000 Bribe

Nepal Police has recommended promotions for personnel across multiple ranks, including 13 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) to Superintendent of Police (SP), four SPs to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), and sixteen Inspectors to DSP. These recommendations were made by the Police Headquarters Promotion Committee Secretariat based on decisions from meetings held on Wednesday.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has released a report recommending investigations into former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former ministers Ramesh Lekhak and Prithvi Subba Gurung, and 15 Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmakers for alleged human rights violations during the Gen Z protests on September 8-9, 2025. The commission also called for departmental action against senior security officials and further inquiries into other individuals involved in the events.

A National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) report has raised questions about the impartiality and scope of its own investigations into protester deaths during the Gen-Z movement. The commission's findings indicate an intelligence failure by the National Investigation Department (NID) weakened security preparedness, leading to security forces being overwhelmed. While the NHRC investigated incidents in Kathmandu, it appears to have only mentioned names for deaths in districts like Sunsari and Jhapa, recommending further investigation by other state bodies.

Prime Minister Balendra Shah has reiterated his government's commitment to delivering "real and visible improvements" in citizens' daily lives, emphasizing good governance and inclusive economic growth. Speaking to European Union ambassadors and other diplomats, Shah stated that while the new government represents a new phase, it upholds democratic values and political stability with a clear policy direction. He also highlighted Nepal's pursuit of a balanced foreign policy based on mutual respect and shared prosperity.
