Kathmandu Police File Cases Against 32 Unlicensed Education Consultancies

Kathmandu Valley Police have filed legal cases against 32 education consultancies for operating without proper legal permission or registration. Authorities are also investigating 37 additional consultancies following a surge in complaints about misleading services and financial exploitation. The crackdown aims to protect students planning to study abroad.

The 32 consultancies facing legal charges failed to complete mandatory registration processes required by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Company Registrar’s Office.
Accusations against these firms include providing unapproved test preparation and language classes, misleading families with false promises of guaranteed visas, and illegally withholding student passports.
Police officials confirmed that the crackdown is ongoing, with 37 more consultancies under active investigation.
This action follows numerous complaints from students and families who were allegedly victims of misleading services and financial exploitation by unauthorized firms.
