Nepal Police Arrest 40 in Arms Cases, Recover 29 Firearms

Nepal Police announced the arrest of 40 individuals nationwide in connection with arms-related offenses during the month of Baisakh, recovering 29 firearms and ammunition. According to Central Police Spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Abinash Narayan Kafle, the operation aimed to maintain public safety and build a crime-free society by cracking down on illegal arms possession and trafficking.

  • The recovered firearms include one Chinese pistol, one standard pistol, one revolver, two "katuwa" pistols, 21 homemade guns, one rifle, and two air guns.
  • Authorities also seized ammunition, including one round for a Chinese pistol, 263 rounds of SLR bullets, and 70 rounds of assorted cartridges.
  • Arrests were made across various provinces, with Gandaki Province reporting the highest number of 14 individuals apprehended.
  • Police urged the public to report any information about hidden illegal weapons and to cooperate in surrendering such arms.
