The District Monitoring Committee Nawalpur has directed authorities to manage excavation works in the Narayani River, citing rampant extraction found during an on-site inspection. Committee coordinator Baburam Bishwokarma stated that river materials were being extracted excessively, digging deeper than permitted and in unapproved locations, with no satisfactory improvement observed despite previous suggestions. Chief District Officer Bhabhishwor Pandey instructed on proper transportation methods and suggested CCTV monitoring.

  • Excavation in the Narayani River was found to be digging deeper than permitted and occurring in locations not approved by the environmental impact assessment.
  • More than the stipulated four excavators were observed in use, with up to nine excavators and over 200 trippers per day involved in extraction.
  • Accurate records of river materials transported and invoices are to be maintained, and immediate measurement and verification are necessary due to excessive extraction.
  • Instructions were given for materials to be transported without spilling water and for tippers to be covered during transit, with municipalities responsible for transportation management.
  • The monitoring committee noted that despite previous suggestions for compliance, no satisfactory improvement was observed after a week.
