Technical Fault Disrupts Power Supply in Tanahun, Gorkha, and Chitwan Districts

A technical issue with a 12 MVA power transformer's earthing system at the Nepal Electricity Authority's substation in Markichowk, Tanahun district, has disrupted power supply. The disruption, which began Wednesday evening, has affected parts of Tanahun, Gorkha, and Chitwan districts. Efforts are underway to restore power through alternative grids.

  • The power disruption occurred at 5:32 PM on Wednesday due to excessive current flow from technical issues in the transformer's earthing system.
  • A technical team from NEA's Pokhara Grid Division was deployed to fix the problem, but the issue recurred, leading to the transformer being shut down again at 6:47 AM today.
  • Power supply was initially restored at 12:45 AM but was shut down again due to repeated earthing system problems.
  • The affected areas include Aanbukhairani in Tanahun district, Gorkha district, and some parts of Chitwan district.
  • The NEA's Pokhara Grid Division team is currently working on resolving the technical issues at the Markichowk substation.
