Contracts have been signed between contractors and Nepal's Central Level Project Implementation Unit-Education for the construction of 14 school buildings across eight districts, funded by a grant from the Government of India. These schools will be built to earthquake-resilient standards, including academic blocks, furnished classrooms, and separate sanitation facilities, as part of India's post-earthquake reconstruction assistance program.

  • The grant assistance from the Government of India for these 14 school buildings amounts to NRs. 56.02 crore.
  • The construction will take place in the districts of Gorkha, Nuwakot, Dhading, Dolakha, Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchok, Ramechhap, and Sindhupalchok.
  • Previously, under the same reconstruction grant, India completed and handed over 70 school buildings and the Tribhuvan University Central Library in January 2024.
  • The project aims to enhance educational infrastructure by providing earthquake-resilient structures with modern amenities.
