Consumption of Petroleum Products Decreases by 10 Percent

Consumption of petroleum products, including petrol and diesel, has decreased by 10 percent and 9.9 percent respectively in the current fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year, according to the Economic Survey 2082/83. This decline is attributed to the increasing consumption of electricity and the growing use of electric stoves in urban areas. Electricity access has reached 99.1 percent of the population, with a total installed power capacity of 4,105 megawatts, including 3,798 megawatts of hydropower. The country has exported 2,918 gigawatt hours of electricity to India this fiscal year. While basic drinking water access is at 97 percent, safe drinking water access is only at 29 percent.
