Electric scooter adoption grows as petrol prices surge

Electric two-wheeler sales have significantly increased in the current fiscal year, driven by rising fuel prices and lower operating costs. Nepal imported 18,776 electric motorcycles and scooters worth Rs 1.85 billion in the first 10 months of the fiscal year, more than doubling previous imports. The surge in imports, particularly in recent months, is attributed to a 30% increase in petrol prices. Consumers are also attracted by lower operating costs, attractive financing, expanding charging infrastructure, and longer battery ranges offered by brands, many of which are from China and India.
